Playground Equipment Warranty

Zoom Recreation is committed to providing durable, high-quality playground equipment backed by comprehensive manufacturer warranty coverage. Our team is available to help customers understand their coverage and coordinate eligible warranty claims with the applicable manufacturer.

Warranty coverage begins on the original invoice date and applies once the product has been paid for in full. Coverage is valid only when the equipment has been properly stored, assembled, installed, used, and maintained according to the manufacturer’s written instructions, approved plans, and recommended maintenance procedures.

Playground Warranty Coverage

Coverage may vary by product, component, and manufacturer. The following warranty periods apply to eligible playground equipment and components:

  • Lifetime Limited Warranty: Playground steel posts, recycled posts, stainless steel hardware, C-line fittings, and aluminum post caps
  • 15-Year Limited Warranty: Playground pipes, rungs, loops, rails, roto-molded plastics, HDPE plastic sheets, punched steel decks, and recycled decks

General Warranty Exclusions

The warranty does not cover damage or product failure resulting from:

  • Incorrect assembly or installation
  • Improper storage before installation
  • Failure to follow installation or maintenance instructions
  • Unauthorized repairs, alterations, additions, or modifications
  • Misuse, abuse, vandalism, accidents, or abnormal use
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Cosmetic conditions such as scratches, dents, marring, peeling, fading, stripping, or weathering
  • Exposure to salt spray, sprinkler systems, sand, chlorine, chemicals, pollution, or other abrasive or corrosive materials
  • Immersion in saltwater or chlorinated water
  • Harsh or abnormal site conditions
  • Lack of routine maintenance
  • Damage caused by installers or third parties
  • Hail, flooding, lightning, tornadoes, sandstorms, earthquakes, mudslides, terrain movement, windstorms, or other events outside the manufacturer’s control

The warranty may also be voided when equipment is not installed according to the applicable installation instructions or when unapproved components are used.

Product Modifications and Attachments

The warranty is void if changes, modifications, additions, or attachments are made without prior written approval from the applicable manufacturer.

Signs, ornaments, fans, lights, fixtures, decorations, or other objects may not be attached to or suspended from the equipment unless they were specifically designed and engineered for the structure or have received written manufacturer approval.

Structural Steel Limited Warranty

Eligible structural steel frames include a Lifetime Limited Warranty against structural failure caused by rust-through corrosion under normal environmental conditions.

When replacement parts are approved under this warranty, the applicable manufacturer may provide replacement parts according to the following prorated schedule:

  • Years 1 through 10: Replacement parts provided at no charge
  • Years 11 through 20: Replacement parts prorated at 50%
  • Year 21 and beyond: Replacement parts prorated at 25%

Workmanship related to eligible structural steel components is covered for five years.

This coverage does not apply when damage is caused by installation, physical impact, salt spray, sprinkler systems, chemicals, chlorine, pollution, misuse, vandalism, abnormal site conditions, or events outside the manufacturer’s control.

Powder Coat Limited Warranty

Eligible factory-applied powder coating includes a five-year Limited Warranty for the original purchaser.

This coverage applies only to factory-applied finishes. Damage caused by shipping, installation, vandalism, accidents, field modifications, or improper handling is not covered. Any damaged areas must be touched up promptly and maintained periodically to prevent corrosion.

Powder coat defects should be reported when installation is completed. Acute angles, welds, end plates, and areas damaged after leaving the factory may not be covered.

When properly applied and maintained, eligible powder coating is expected to meet the following standards after five years of exposure:

  • Retain its original color within a ∆E of less than 7.5 units for high-chroma colors and less than 5.0 units for low-chroma colors when tested according to ASTM D 2244
  • Retain at least 50% of its original gloss level after washing when tested according to ASTM D 523
  • Exhibit chalking no worse than a numerical rating of 6 when evaluated according to ASTM D 659-80

Stainless Steel Playground Equipment

Eligible stainless steel playground products are warranted to the original customer against structural failure caused by defects in materials or workmanship during normal use.

Coverage begins on the invoice date and is valid only when the equipment has been:

  • Installed according to the manufacturer’s specifications and installation guides
  • Installed in accordance with the approved playground layout
  • Properly inspected and maintained
  • Used only for its intended purpose

The applicable manufacturer reserves the right to approve or deny a claim in whole or in part. Products or components may not be returned without prior written authorization.

Electronic Play Equipment

Speakers, sound chips, circuit boards, and other eligible electronic play components include a three-year Limited Warranty against electronic failure caused by manufacturing defects.

The warranty does not cover failure resulting from:

  • Misuse, vandalism, or neglect
  • Accidental damage during battery replacement
  • Improper servicing of internal electronics
  • Failure to follow battery replacement instructions
  • Failure to follow troubleshooting procedures
  • Failure to follow care and maintenance requirements

Warranty Remedies and Limitations

The applicable manufacturer may repair or replace an approved defective component at its discretion. A defective component does not automatically entitle the customer to an entirely new product.

Unless otherwise approved in writing, warranty coverage does not include:

  • Site visits
  • Inspection expenses
  • Labor
  • Removal of existing components
  • Reinstallation of replacement components
  • Customer downtime
  • Loss of use
  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or liquidated damages
  • Costs related to returning products or components for inspection

No representative may modify, expand, or add to the manufacturer’s warranty obligations unless the change is provided in writing by an authorized party.

Lifetime Warranty Definition

For the purposes of this warranty, “lifetime” does not represent a specific number of years. It refers to the period during which the original customer owns the product and continues to use it for its intended purpose.

Lifetime coverage does not include vandalism, misuse, abuse, unauthorized modifications, altered components, cosmetic damage, fading, weathering, or normal wear and tear.

Warranty claims must be filed within the applicable coverage period and accompanied by the original sales order or invoice number.
