Zoom Recreation provided Poway Unified School District with two DSA pre-approved shade structures: a 20' x 20' center post umbrella and a 30' x 20' hip shade structure, delivering both style and sun protection for the recreation spaces.
Completing shade structure projects for California schools requires careful coordination to meet the standards set by the Division of the State Architect (DSA). Zoom Recreation worked within these requirements by providing pre-approved products and supporting teams through each stage of the process—from documentation and scheduling to inspection.
Our approach is focused on simplifying what can often be a complex process, so Poway's school projects moved forward smoothly and meet all compliance standards!
The Zoom team installed a single-post umbrella shade in the color "True Blue" at Painted Rock Elementary School. The shade was the perfect choice for the play space, providing ample coverage without being obtrusive.
For Park Village Elementary School, Zoom installed and designed a hip shade—a perfect and common shade solution for covering school picnic areas.
Having the opportunity to work with some of the highest level design professionals in the recreation space here in Southern California is a true blessing. I’ve been able to learn a ton over the years on how to really create both a functional and aesthetically pleasing playground design in San Diego. When I’m not working, I’m appreciating all that this city has to offer.
